Entry #07 · Spotted by the Barbarian

From Mike: I spent so long trying to get this guy right. I'm still not 100% happy with him, but I really like our take on the lore. Maybe another version of him will come around some day.

Where it comes from

A wizard wanted a cheerful companion and cast a spell on a laughing hyena. It worked a little too well. Now there's a whole crowd of them, and they all think everything is hilarious.

What to look for

• The grin. Tongue out, always laughing. Usually at its own jokes.
• The gear. A round wooden shield, a little axe and mismatched armour. None of it matches, and that's how it likes it.
• The ball. Red and white, right at its feet. It's never far from its ball.

Party notes

• The Barbarian: "It laughed at my joke! Then it laughed at a leaf. Still counts."
• Rory: "Its armour is held together with string. I respect that."

Colouring corner

• Spots or stripes on the fur? Real hyenas have spots.
• Make every piece of armour a different colour, like a real Gnoll would.

Mike's tip: Hyenas have lots of spots. This guy really needs some spots.
