Origins & Mythological Mishaps

The Lich is an undead spellcaster who achieved immortality through the absolute refusal to stop studying. Centuries ago, this ancient wizard looked at the standard mortal lifespan, looked at the pile of unread magical texts on their desk, and decided that dying was simply an inconvenience. Using a complex soul-binding ritual, they locked their life force inside a decorative chrystal (a phylactery) and transitioned into a permanent skeletal state, completely bypassing the need for groceries or dental insurance.

Physical Traits & Quirks

Skeletal Frame

Their entire existence hinges on a glowing, magical container hidden somewhere in their tower. Because it is so critical, they tend to over-protect it, often putting it inside three layers of locked boxes that they immediately lose the keys to.

Phylactery Dependency

Glowing Optics

Their empty eye sockets burn with pinpricks of icy blue magical light. While intended to strike terror into the hearts of paladins, it mostly functions as a highly efficient reading light for late-night scroll sessions.

Tactical Advantage

Immune to exhaustion and basic sleep spells. However, their high-level dark magic can be entirely disrupted by misplacing their favorite reading quill, causing them to go on a multi-century hunt through their archives to find it.
