The Jackalope is a legendary cryptid born from the wild frontier, representing nature's most adorable attempt at wilderness defense. Folklore scholars note that the Jackalope was created when a normal jackrabbit decided it was tired of being chased by coyotes and successfully bartered with a forest spirit for a defensive upgrade. Rather than choosing sharp claws or fiery breath, the rabbit chose a majestic set of antlers, proving that looking fancy is just as effective as being dangerous.

Antlers

A miniature, crown of horn sitting between two floppy ears. They are kept meticulously clean by rubbing them against low sagebrush, though they frequently get caught in standard wire fences.

Vocal Mimicry

The Jackalope can perfectly copy human speech, a trait it uses exclusively to confuse traveling bards. Their favorite trick is sitting behind a bush and shouting "Look over there!" in a perfect tavern-keeper voice to steal trail mix.

Capable of outrunning an elven ranger’s swiftest arrow. When moving at maximum velocity, they look like a fuzzy, antlered blur bouncing across the plains.

Tactical Advantage

Their tiny size and extreme speed grant them an evasion bonus that leaves low-level goblins spinning in circles. They are entirely immune to being caught unless lured out with a saucer of sweet milk.
